Ian is a research architect at Queensland University of Technology where he also teaches Resilient Design in the Masters of Landscape Architecture program. He has 25 year’s experience designing homes in bushfire-prone biodiverse landscapes around Australia.

He employs a multi-model process – which bridges art practice, cartography, industrial design, architecture and landscape – to generate designs that meet the primary objective of sustainability: the conservation and celebration of biodiversity.

Ian is a vocal advocate for innovative design and architectural adaptation to bushfire prone biodiverse landscapes, and his work and ideas have been broadcast internationally via features in the New York Times, CNN, Bloomberg and exhibitions at UNESCO, and The Venice Biennale.
