Dr Mark Maund is an environmental planner in private practice and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle. He completed a PhD that sought to understand how decision-makers consider natural hazards when identifying land for rezoning. The research involved interviewing Commonwealth, State and local government employees and consultants to understand what criteria are used in making decisions about rezoning land and how natural hazards are considered in decision-making.
Mark works as an environmental planning consultant on a range of infrastructure, development and environmental management projects. He is also the current Managing Editor of New Planner produced by the Planning Institute of Australia.
