Simon Marnie currently hosts ABC Radio Sydney Weekends and has been a broadcaster with the ABC for over 30 years. During that time, he has covered many bushfires emergencies and the recovery afterwards.

In 2019/2020 Simon was part of the extensive team that covered the Black Summer fires. In February ABC Radio Sydney and ABC NSW undertook their Road to Recovery broadcasts that saw Weekends broadcast from key fire affected locations in NSW including Kangaroo Valley, Bargo, Mogo, Bermagui, Bega, Port Macquarie, Nymboida and Tenterfield.

Simon also has broader experience covering emergencies, being first on the scene to cover the devastation of the Brisbane Floods of 2011, the Riverina floods of 2012 and bushfire coverage during and after all of NSW fires from 2000.
