Susan Fox is a Senior Manager Planning Facilitation within the Planning Delivery Unit (PDU) of the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE).
The PDU works closely with stakeholders and government agencies to remove blockages and resolve issues on projects in the planning system. The unit also assists with projects under assessment, so that decisions can are made more quickly. As part of Susan’s role within the PDU, she is embedded officer within the NSW Rural Fire Service. In this role she works to strengthen interagency relationships, improve processes and systems, and increase internal capacity to process concurrence and referrals.
Prior to joining PDU, Susan was a Senior Environmental Assessment Officer working on State significant development applications within the Industry Assessments section of DPIE. Before working at DPIE, Susan held a number of roles within the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA). As a Senior Operations Officer in the Hazardous Incident Section she was part of the team that developed an Incident Management System for the EPA. She also led the EPA training program on incident response and recovery to build the organisation’s incident management capacity. She has extensive experience in regulatory operational areas, leading investigations, reviewing environmental assessments, environmental site auditing and management of environment protection licences.
Susan has over 20 years of experience in the environment and planning fields. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physical Geography) (Hons) (UNSW), Post Graduate Diploma Urban and Regional Planning (UNE), Cert IV in Training and Assessment, is a certified Environmental Auditor and is currently studying a Graduate Certificate in Business (Public Sector Management) (QUT).
