2024 Call for Abstracts opens on Monday, 11 February 2024

The Conference Organising Committee is pleased to invite presenters to submit abstracts for presentations; poster presentations and hands-on workshops, to be delivered at the 2024 Australian Bushfire Building Conference.

The Theme of the 2024 conference is Celebrating 10 years – A Decade of Learning : Sustainable solutions. Enduring legacy.

We welcome submissions from a wide range of backgrounds, including architects, engineers, planners, builders, and researchers who have a story to share. Presentations are encouraged to explore topics related to bushfire building and planning, including but not limited to, design guidelines, building codes, bushfire assessment tools, community education and engagement, and building material innovation.

All abstracts for presentations; poster presentations and hands-on workshops must relate to the theme of the 2024 conference.

Guidelines

Please follow our guidelines below to submit your abstract correctly. Before commencing the submission process, please note:

  • Submissions must be written in English.
  • Abstracts submitted for presentation will be reviewed exactly as received and should be checked for spelling and grammar prior to submission.
  • Abstracts must be submitted as text, with the following headings: 1. Introduction, 2. Presentation outline, 3. Reference to theme, 4. Conclusion
  • Where there is more than one presenter all correspondence will be sent to the person who submitted the abstract.
  • Every effort will be made to accommodate the presenter / author presentation preference; however, the Conference Program Committee reserves the right to allocate the presentation to best suit the program.
  • The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation or registration costs associated with the Conference. Similarly, no presenter fee is paid to successful presenters.
  • Accepted abstract presenters are offered 50% discount on conference registrations.
  • The conference is a face-to-face event, and all speakers are required to present in person at the conference venue.
  • All abstract submissions will be reviewed by the Conference Organising Committee and notified by email.

  • Submission Portal opens:   11 February 2024
  • Abstract submissions close:   30 June 2024
  • Successful presenters contacted:   by 31 July 2024
  • Early Bird registration closes   31 July 2024
  • Speaker registrations close: 18 August 2024
  • Speakers Briefing:   28 August 2024
  • Presentation PowerPoint slides due:  4 September 2024
  • Conference dates:   11 – 13 September 2024
